July 2007 December 2008 Brittney cut her relaxer out in July 2007. I wanted to know how things have been since then. B: I initially went natural because my husband suggested I go natural. I really didn't like that idea because that meant I would have to deal with thick hair. I was also very style challenged and only wore my hair straight when I was relaxed. Then I began to see so many pictures of beautiful, long natural hair! That is really what helped my decision in going natural! B: My hair has always been naturally thick. This is the reason why my mother initially put a perm in my hair at a young age! To be honest, I don't blame her; since she was the one who had to deal with it, she was only doing what was best for her. I have been very patient with my hair since I first chopped. I keep my hair protected a lot and try my best to keep it moisturized. This is what is helping me to retain hair and grow it out.

J: I keep it really simple. *use a lighter conditioner like Suave, add water, and massage it thru while combing *wash - using my shampoo and conditioner mix and then deep condition with the aubrey organics or the olive oil packets *wash out - use a leave in. with the leave in I'm still trying different ones. I havent found one that I love but I use the shea moisture leave in or the banana leave in by curl junkie *wash out and then twist out damp hair. Big fat twist. About 8. Let that air dry. Once dry I began to style my hair and that's it.

The conditioner can be anything from Whole Foods Conditioners, Aubrey Organics, Oyin Handmade Honey Hemp, Elucence MB, or Giovanni. I eyeball the measurements and make enough to last 4-5 days. I shake it up in an 8 oz. spray bottle and spritz. These ingredients last me months so it's very cost effective. The mix is very natural, safe, and loaded with moisture. My coils instantly react to it. Deep Conditioner: I shampoo (Elucence Moisture Balancing) and deep condition with heat once a week. I love Aubrey Organics Conditioners. I often mix in coconut cream concentrate, castor oil, coconut oil, or honey to increase the shine and humectant level. I balance out the moisture by using a mild prot...
