rock solid: fallon

Instructions:
I add equal parts Bentonite clay with apple cider vinegar until the mixture is the consistency of mashed potatoes. I then add honey and either olive oil or coconut oil. I section my hair in four sections and apply to both my scalp and then hair with an applicator brush. I leave in my hair for about 10 – 15 minutes then rinse out in the shower.

Conditioning:
After rinsing the Bentonite clay out of my hair I apply a generous amount of conditioner to my hair in four sections and braid in four big braids while I am in the shower. The conditioner changes depending on what I have in my house – sometimes I make concoctions from essential oils, avocados, etc. or I use VO5s, Nature’s Gate, Fructis conditioners etc. I then pin my four braids up using bobby pins and wrap my hair using saran wrap, to lock in the moisture. I wrap my hair in a colorful scarf, add some cute earrings and go about my day.
I deep condition at least once a week. I feel that it is one of the most luxurious things one can do for her hair.

Detangling:
The next day I detangle my hair in sections in the shower using an Aveda paddle brush. I let my hair drip dry and I apply coconut oil to my hair and either braid, twist, or Bantu depending on how big I want my hair to be. I always detangle my hair when my hair is soaking wet and while I am in the shower. I remove tangles from my hair by pulling each individual strand apart.

Protective Styles:
I twist my hair or bun my hair during the week and then sport my afro loose on the weekend or in a Bantu knot twist-out for really chunky hair.
