I only parted the front how I wanted the hair to fall. I sectioned off hair randomly (no parts) and twirled until it wrapped around itself, tucked it under and wrapped my head with a satin covering over night. It's better if there isn't too much space between the knots. In the morning, I just unraveled each one, finger combed it until it looked how I wanted and that was it!" ok, this is so cute/amazing. i'm throwing a question out there... how exactly do you do this? okay, kinkycurlycool provided the how-to for the rod-set. here it is: To rod you will need: 1. Mousse 2. Orange Rod Rollers (or what over color you have) 3. End papers (to prevent hair from snagging on the rollers) 4. Small tooth comb to help smooth hair before putting in rollers 5. Large tooth comb to continue helping while during general combing How to: At this point, hair is probably at least 80% dry and still kind of damp. Hair is still sectioned into large twist. Use the wide tooth comb to comb through each twisted section I started from the back (nape of neck) applying rollers. It will probably be easier to take down the back twist and part off your first row and then re-twist hair I put 4 rollers in the back and my goal was to do the brick layering system For each part: Apply small amount of mousse to sectioned hair Smooth with small tooth comb Encase (taco) hair with end pape...

I rocked a fro-hawk at two weddings this summer (both old college friends). I think it went really well. The style actually looked kind of elegant... but spunky at the same time.

This style was done by hair artist Keva Hall for her show entitled "My Good Hair" @ Rush Arts Gallery in New York. It is part of "Garveyism" -- styles based on Marcus Garvey's beauty pageants promoting natural beauty. This style was inspired by powdered wigs of the 18th century.

It's two flat twists in the front, two gold headbands, and a high ponytail. I think it's gorgeous. Here you can see the style more clearly. It's a different set of photos, she's wearing less make-up, there are three bands and no high ponytail.

The volume of natural hair makes it perfect for side-swept 'bumps' like this. I guess you could call it a natural girl's bang. And then with the scarf in the second photo... that is just DOPE.
