hello all, well, the lady we are profiling today does some of the most inventive natural styles i have ever seen. and, i mean, this is why i am so confused when people say natural hair is 'hard to deal with'... yes it is, i agree. but are we looking at the challenges, or the possibilities? here is a woman that is looking at the possibilities. i love love love her hair! the styles are regal, and downright HOT! way to go!!!

Okay, I think these styles are gorgeous, and I would TOTALLY wear them both to work. I grew up in Jamaica, and in my experience natural styles were a lot more accepted in the workplace (although even in Jamaica there is bias towards chemically straightened hair). Here in the States I wonder, why couldn't this style be acceptable for work? Or, you know, am I wrong... is this accepted and I just don't know it? Weigh in!

A nice short-term protective style. Lina, the architect of this style (and featured in the photo), wrote this how-to: "The pinned up twists were pretty easy. - I parted the hair down the middle and from ear to ear -- I did it with my fingers, but you can make an off center part and ear-to-ear part with your comb or rattail. - moisturize with creme of choice. I used shea butter and a little conditioner-- and apply to each section.. -make 4 big two-strand twists (make sure they are a little less firm at the scalp so you can pin them back)/ - Pin the front two back, fasten with a bobby pin, then pin the back to up towards the center. They should angle in like an X. I used two bobby pins for the center. the hair may need to use more pins if the length is very different between front and back.."

RMichelle has been featured as a Monday style icon before, and I noticed on Fotki that she had recently intensified her regimen. Since July 1, 2008 she's been on a 'no sulfate, no silicone, no mineral oil, no petroleum or drying alcohol' regimen, and I can definitely see the difference in the shine, thickness and length of her hair!
